On a beautiful spring morning in Manotick, I had the pleasure of photographing these little beauties whom I have known (and been documenting) for 4 years now! I was so proud of these three monkeys as they were great listeners on session day and we had a blast playing around in the yard and gardens. Thank you Erin, Torrin and Abby – you were awesome!
Take a look at our beautiful pics.

Although our RCK session was meant to be a Spring session, Ottawa weather this week has been far from spring-like. We woke up to snow on Monday (yuck) and the remainder of the week has been cold and rainy. Nevertheless, the big beautiful window at the Red Chair Kids Boutique let in ample natural light for our Spring Petites on Tuesday.
Thank you to Monica Gallivan, shoppe owner of our favourite Wellington kid’s store, for another successful and fun morning of photography!
Here’s your peek. Check out our gorgeous children.

Think ahead for a moment, your children are no longer wee babes but instead imagine they are in their early twenties. You never bought that stunning album, art canvas or print of you with your kids because your hair wasn’t quite right or maybe you thought you looked too old (aren’t we women so good at that – criticizing ourselves?). But now, 15 to 20 years have past and you think you looked amazing back then:) and wonder why you didn’t just do it!
If I had a $5.00 bill for every client that called and said they had been wanting to get professional images done of the family since the kids were babies but….alas, time just got away — well let’s just say I could get a lot of lattes at Starbucks:)
Mother’s Day is approaching. The celebration of being a mother and the bond we have with our children is to be cherished. Give yourself a gift this year – the gift of fine art photos. Lasts longer than flowers, a new plant or a Sunday Brunch. I promise, you will never regret it.
I’ll leave you with a couple of “mommy and child” favourites.

Have you been thinking that you really MUST get your child’s portraits done or that you need only a few updated shots of that delicious baby who just began to sit up and makes the loveliest expresssions? Red Chair window sessions are absolutely ideal for in-between sessions, milestone photos, or for anyone who is simply on a budget and would prefer a shorter session with only one or two art pieces! We have 3 spots left….call us today.

I find sibling relationships intriguing and what I have come to understand is that they really come in all shapes and size. During a photo session I get a peek into how siblings operate; do they tackle each other, are they naturally cuddly, is big brother/sister protective, are they independent of one another? No one is better or worse, just different.
As a photographer who also has a degree in psychology, I find myself naturally interested in the human dynamic of families especially the dynamic of those little ones. Maybe it’s because I have an older sister or perhaps it’s because I wonder how my daughter will turn out as she is an only child. I am not sure, but I do know photography married with an understanding of relationships (and their complexities) fits together. It helps be as an artist and helps me see who the kids are beyond the surface.
All that to say, these two little monkeys featured today were so much fun to spend time with on Saturday morning. They certainly kept me on my toes…very close and yet really different. Take a look, what a pleasure it was to be their photographer.

This post rounds up our January to March newborn extravaganza…we will take a little reprieve and resume in July when our next peanut is scheduled to enter the world! In the meantime, there will be loads of everything in between: crawling babes, toddlers and preschool kiddies. So make sure to check back frequently. Better yet, subscribe to our blog so you don’t miss a beat!
Last week’s adorable cherub is Madison Lulu. What a lucky girl she is to be surrounded by so much love! Madison really could not have asked for a better family to call her own – her parents are elated to have their girl and her two big brothers are just as smitten as mum and dad. Congrats to you all; you are a beautiful family.
Here’s a teaser. Enjoy…

Cat-nap time!

Oh - a mummy's love, nothing quite like it!

Two little Monkeys...
To say it’s been raining newborns for us this year is an understatement
With only 2 full months under our belt in 2012, Natasha Moine Photography has already photographed seven families welcoming wee little ones – ranging from first time parents to fourth babies!! We are grateful of course. Not only is it wonderful and auspicious to be the official newborn photographer for our fabulous clients, but with every newborn session we hone in on the very specialized craft of photographing a 5-9 day old baby. It’s only March 5th and I personally feel like I have taken a newborn ‘crash-course’…learning something each and every time.
A quick couple of pics from last week’s session with Xavier and his beautiful new brother, Nathan.
Happy Tuesday – enjoy the week everyone. Milder weather will be arriving soon… stay tuned for a Red Chair Window session to be announced for April, in celebration of the season we all welcome with open arms – Spring!

Don’t Let Your Children Grow Up To Be JPEGs….
I am not sure where I saw that written therefore I can’t take credit for it…but isn’t it SO true? Really, when is the last time you printed or did something special (i.e. a photo book, gallery wall, or a simple 5×7) of your kids’ photos? If you are like most of us, the answer is probably a long time or possibly never. If you are like my average client, you hire me for the “milestones” like newborn photography and then again for some family photos when the babes are around 2-3 years. Other than those professional sessions, photo files usually sit on the computer or perhaps even on the camera collecting “JPEG dust,” never to be printed.
Digital files are great, they serve a useful purpose but I see digital files as an addendum to printed photos and art – archival for example, sharing images with friends and family via the computer, and who doesn’t love a terrific screen-saver?
My point is certainly not to make you feel like an underachiever as a parent – goodness knows I can be guilty as well. I am here to gently remind you of the importance of leaving a photo legacy for our children.
Don’t delay….shut down facebook/email and other electronic distractions for an hour and instead create a lovely iMac or My Publisher Book of your latest family memory. Or…call us and book that fine art session you have been thinking about for years but putting off. Our little peanuts aren’t getting any younger.
Think about what a gift this will be to your kids when they are all grown up.
I’ll leave you with two snapshots of me as a child in the 70′s, a very long time ago:)
Enjoy the day everyone.

This family welcomed their fourth bundle of love in early February. Philip certainly didn’t rush out to great the world to meet his gorgeous family…he was simply too comfortable in mamma’s tum!
Now that he has made his grand entrance, he is surrounded by much adoration from his brother and 2 sisters. What a lucky boy to have come into this family where the love is so abundant.
Take a look – need I say more….I LOVE my job!

Beauties

Sweet Philip

Proud BIG Brother
Isabella really wanted to make an entrance. In fact, she was so ready to be born in January she decided her birthdate would be 5 weeks early while daddy was still in Arizona, 2500 miles away.
Happily, Daddy made it in time.
Despite being early, Bella is strong and already a whooping 5 lbs. Bella came home only one week later and I arrived on her doorstep ready to take her photographs fresh from vacation when she was 14 days fresh.
You would never know this gorgeous babe was a premie…so fiesty and alert! She wanted to know what was happening every moment of our session. But finally into our 2nd hour Bella feel asleep long enough for us to capture some lovely dreamy images. Take a look!!

Just LOOK at the way daddy is looking at her.

Bella loves being cozy!

Mamma - looking so gorgeous so soon after delivering:)
